Enjoying Ipswich Insider?

Four-frame collage: Jamey; Jamey & Hannah (coffee); Jamey & Hannah; my wife & Hannah together

Ipswich Insider is a local, independent media project based in Eastern Heights.

Heck, it’s just me, Jamey – and my tiny playground tester Hannah. I write the newsletter and keep the weekly events database up to date.

8,209 locals read it each week.

Each issue takes 25+ hours to make and uses paid tools, data and hosting.

It’s free to read, but not free to make.

If it’s useful to you each week, you can shout the next coffee or back it monthly.

Note: Your contributions go to the software tools I use to make Ipswich Insider each week. They don’t buy influence over what’s covered or how it’s written.

What I Do

  • Weekly local updates and event curation.
  • On-the-ground scanning of council, community, and business info.
  • Clear, useful summaries so you don’t have to browse ten sites.

Why I Do it

To give Ipswich a single, reliable place to see what matters locally—what’s on, what changed, and what’s worth your time.

Where Your Money Goes First

1st priority

  • Tools: Email, hosting, and production/automation tools that ship the newsletter each week (Kit, Pressable, Canva, CapCut, Airtable, Make.com).

2nd priority

  • Growth: A newsletter is a flywheel. More readers → more shares and tips → better issues. Scale lowers per-reader costs and reduces reliance on “coffees”.

3rd priority

  • My time: Long-term aim is to cover some of my time so I can do more than after hours. For now, tools and growth come first.
  • Giving back: Reader giveaways via local partners (e.g., tools, vouchers) tied to quick polls or surveys.

Editorial Independence & Disclosures

  • Independence: Contributors and sponsors don’t steer coverage. Editorial decisions stay separate from funding.
  • Disclosures: If an issue contains sponsored material or affiliate links, it will be clearly labelled in the newsletter and on the site. See the full policy: Disclaimers Policy.
  • Tax note (AU): Contributions are not tax-deductible unless specified.
  • Business details: Ipswich Insider • ABN 23 195 374 358.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes—any time, with a couple of clicks in your account settings or by contacting me (Email here).

Do you publish sponsored posts?

Only if clearly labelled as such. Core coverage remains independent. I’m not against it, but it needs to be a proper fit.
