Orion Hotel Cheeseburger at a Glance
Verdict: 😐 Okay
- Thoughts: Looked the part but lacked flavour. No meat & cheese juiciness and the sauce didn’t show. Meat needs more seasoning, a higher-fat grind & a hotter sear. More burger sauce too. I’d try something else next time.

How we rank burgers in Ipswich
I’m just a local burger lover, not Gordon Ramsay. So it’s pretty simple: the best tasting, most enjoyable burger wins. Doesn’t matter if it’s $28 from Hog’s Breath, $18 from Grill’d or $8 from Ampol.
Scale: 🔥 Amazing 👍 Great 😐 Okay 👎 Poor 🚫 Skip
- Flavour – beef first, bun, cheese, sauce, salads support
- Balance – salt, acid, fat in check (not too sweet)
- Texture – juicy patty, toasted bun, nothing soggy or harsh
- Structure – holds together, right ratios
Full Rundown: Orion Hotel Lunch Menu Cheeseburger
Meat 👎
There was zero juiciness to this beef patty. It tasted like nothing. What else is there to say?
Bun 😐
The bun was over toasted and dry. Better than soggy and falling apart, I guess.
Cheese 😐
Didn’t even notice the cheese until halfway through. Either have a thicker slice or use two slices.
Sauce 👎
Most burgers can be saved with an amazing sauce—it balances everything. This was not one of those burgers. The sauce was undetectable.
Salads 👍
Credit is due here. The lettuce, tomato and pickle were great. Fresh, crunchy and refreshing.
Sides, value and vibe 👍
- Chips – Hot and crisp. Decent.
- Value – Top value. Only $16 for a good size burger and chips. Just improve the beef patty + add more sauce.
- Presentation – It looked impressive coming out. My mouth was watering taking the photos. Neat build. No slide. Clean plate.
- Wait time – On the long side for a single burger order in a dead restaurant. But nothing crazy.
- Venue – You’ve all been to Orion Hotel. It’s a nice spot. I was with my daughter and it was 2pm so we sat inside at The Spotted Gum bistro restaurant. It was empty aside from one table.
🍔 The Final Word
The Orion Hotel Lunch Menu Cheeseburger had the potential to be a big winner. It even looked great on the plate.
But the beef patty — the most important part of every burger — had zero flavour and juiciness. The cheese and sauce was lacking in amount and flavour, and the bun was average. Overall the burger leaned dry & bland.
Final score:
😐 Okay
